Q1: Why a desynchronization between the two channels and a loss in the quality of the sound occurs if I activate Channel 2++ Magic? Why the same desyncronization and loss of quality occurs when I simultaneously work with other programs (software)?

A: Probably your computer doesn't have the necessary hardware or software: not enough RAM memory, a processor without MMX and too little MHz, uninstalled or wrong installed DirectX. If after pressing several times <Reset Channels> button you still do not obtain an improvable of the sound and a synchronization of channels, then you should give up Channel 2++. If you want you can use only Channel 1 or only Channel 2++. Even without Channel 2++ or without Channel 1 you'll still have a high quality of the sound, hard to get with other freeware or shareware players. If you still want Channel 2++ (and I tell you it worth), first, try a hardware improvement and afterwords a software one: another DirectX, a change in Cache memory: Min.Cache Size, Max.Cache Size, Cache Block Size, Async IO buffers. When I created BestPlay I was interested in a high quality of sound and video and not especially in hardware economy. You can try from Control Panel - Sounds and Multimedia - Sound Playback - Advanced - Performance - Hardware Acceleration customized at Full and Sample rate conversion quality customized at Good. Also you can try other Sync cursor value.

Q2: Why there are only three cursors for the low, middle and high frequencies unlike on other players?

A: BestPlay itself achieves an optimal balance and dynamic control of the frequencies.
The 3 cursors (Bass, Mid and Hi) cover all audio frequencies between 20Hz and 40000Hz. It's not a big technical problem to add more cursors like other players. This has a good look but can makes problems on finding an optimum balance. That explains why I chose to offer a dynamic balance control only using 3 cursors. Any deviation from the optimum means a loss in the quality of the sound, that's why I decided not to offer manual control on more than 3 cursors.

Q3: Why Channel 2++ isn't active when video files are played?

A: For the video player the Channel 2++ Magic adjustment is automatically realized by Channel 1 - Main Video so that Channel 2++ isn't useful anymore.

Q4: Why, when I change the default language the button tips don't change to this language?

A: BestPlay tips can't be modified. Tips are always displayed in English. When you change the default language only the text displayed on buttons, labels, messages, windows, check boxes, will be modified.

Q5: How can I create a new language interface?

A: For each language:

• You must have in ...\Lang directory 3 files:
  for example: English1.txt, English2.txt, English_Msg.txt.
• To create files for other language you may copy these files in Lang directory and rename (the word English in the file's name) with your language name. Ex.: Zulu1.txt, Zulu2.txt, Zulu_Msg.txt instead of English1.txt, English2.txt, English_Msg.txt.
• After that, you will open each file (Zulu...) and you will overwrite each term with words translated in the new language. Do not change order!
• In ...\Lang directory exists a file named Lang.txt. Open this file and add your language's name (Zulu).
  
  If you want your translation to be included in BestPlay setup, please send me an e-mail with your name, your e-mail address and with the 3 files attachated for the new language. I'll put your name, your e-mail address and these files in BestPlay website to be downloaded. Also I'll include your name your e-mail address and your files language in all new BestPlay versions.

Q6: Why, when I play xm, it, mod, s3m, mtm, ogg files, Channel 1 is deactivated and I don't have any control over the main track-bar?

A: Xm, it, mod, s3m, mtm, ogg files are the specialty of Channel 2++. Channel 1 doesn't have any use in this case; and the main track-bar can be controlled only when Channel 1 is active.

Q7: When both channels are active and I use the main track-bar a desynchronization occurs (like an echo). Why? How can I resynchronize the channels?

A: I let this happen because I wanted to give you the freedom to achieve special sound effects and a controlled echo. A fine control of the echo could be achieved by a successive press of <+1> and <-1> buttons. A guaranteed resynchronization can be achieved by pressing the <Reset Channels> button or clicking on file name from play list. If you don't have a good synchronization between channels then try to modify Sync cursor value. Synchronization between channels depends on your computer. For example for a Pentium II with 128 MB and 500 MHz Sync cursor value should be more 20. For a Pentium 4 I recommend Sync value to be 1.

Q8: How can I display an analogical clock?

A: To display an analogical clock you have to have checked <Info> option that will display above <Anti boring> button a text digital clock. A click on this clock will display the analogical clock. And a second click on the text digital clock will hide the analogical clock.

Q9: Why can't I capture images?

A: This subject is still open. Indeed, with some video cards and with some resolution, BestPlay can't captures images. Anyway, image capture aren't the main quality of BestPlay. Probably the next BestPlay version will have this problem solved.

Q10: How can I capture an image to a "Full screen" dimension?

A: After deciding on the image in "Normal mode", you press <Stop> button. You can use the fine control by pressing <+1> and <-1> buttons to have exactly the image you want on the screen. Check that <Stop after set position> is active, then change the visualization mode to <Full screen> and capture the image.

Q11: Why I can't see or why I can't have sound for some .avi movies?

A: To see .avi movies DivX compressed you have to have a correct DivX codec instaled. Try to install DivX ;-) MPEG4 Hi-Res Video Codec or higher. Pay attention to ACEMP 593 PRO. This software can get Channel 1 to work incorrectly. To fix this problem you have to reinstall ACEMP 593 PRO on minimal options or you have to uninstall ACEMP 593 PRO.

Q12: Why BestPlay doesn't have a graphical look like other well-known players?

A: BestPlay uses system resources very much. In my opinion sound's and video's quality are more important then a rich graphical view wich turns the processor to red. BestPlay was created in order to be used in TrayBar. Also BestPlay have to work on Pentium II computer. In order to run on a Pentium II I decided to use the system resources on the quality of the sound and image and not on the graphical appearance of BestPlay.

Q13: What means BPY and BSS files?

A: BPY files are BestPlay list files and BSS are BestPlay slide show files. If you want you can view and edit BPY or BSS files by using a text editor like Notepad. Any exit of BestPlay stores last list in LastList.BPY.

Q14: Why after each <Clear List> I found in my list Blowing_In_The_Wind.mp3?

A: Because Blowing_In_The_Wind.mp3 is my favorite song. If you don't like it rename your favorite mp3 with this name and replace it in BestPlay folder.

Q15: Can I control the default BestPlay settings?

A: Yes. The default settings for volume, synchronizing and frequencies of BestPlay can be saved or deleted if you have checked <Save / Recorder> option. When you have this option checked you have to press <Save Default> button. If you want to save the audio settings only for a song you have to press <Save item settings> button. Those facilities can be used when you have songs in play list with different characteristics (too much sound volume, bad frequencies or synchronize etc).

Q16: Some time my screen is flicking. Why?

A: Maybe you use a slow device (a very slow CDROM, USB v.0x...) and your video card is very slow. If you have a video conflict problem with Radio Tuner then from BestPlay options try to modify <Optimize Connection Speed> value. Also it is recommended to check <Hide after is running> and to try to synchronize the internal timer from <Timer control>. If the problem isn't solved try to restart your dial-up (modem connection) or try to Restart Windows.

Q17: What about USB Editition?

A: If you want to have a portable BestPlay edition then from setup program you have to choose USB Memory Edition and have to enter the USB Memory folder name where the files of BestPlay will be copied to. So you can have when you want a BestPlay player on your USB memory flash drive. You can use BestPlay on other restricted computers, for Internet Radio, for your private Chat or for your FTP Server. You can run your Internet Radio Station, can see a Slide Show or movies, or can play your music.

Q18: What the steps to have my BestPlay Internet Radio Station?

A: 1. First you have to have BestPlay Radio Server started.

    2. Click on <My BestPlay radio station settings> button. From Edit My BestPlay Radio Station Server dialog choose Home Directory for your station (e.g. C:\Temp), put your mp3 files here and create My BestPlay List (BestPlayList.BPY) for my BestPlay Radio Station.

    3. Now you can verify your BestPlay Radio Station on Localhost. When a user is connected at your BestPlay Radio Station Server, you will be notified on server traybar icon.

    4. Any BestPlay user from Internet (intranet) or from local network can be connected to your BestPlay Radio Station, when you have BestPlay Radio Station Server started and when he knows your IP (name) address. You can see any time your IP address in title bar. If you want you can publish on Internet for other BestPlay users your IP (name) server address.

Why did I create BestPlay?

For several years I've been trying (using) dozens of players found on CDs, on the Internet, or downloaded from trials, sharewares, freeware or final versions, but I haven't found what I wanted. So, I decided to create my own player that goes well for ... and for...and also for... that offers... and uses... that gives this quality of sound and image, so that it would satisfy my most exigent tastes. I've created BestPlay for me and my friends.
